Analytic and Prediction Study of Iodine-131 Thyroid Fixation Rate During Clinical Therapy

Objective(s): The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between iodine-131 dose rate fixation, abdominal and thyroidal emission behavior, aiming to develop a predictive model using machine learning approaches for optimized Radiopharmacy applications. Methods: Data were collected clinically from 24 patients undergoing 131I therapy. Dose rate measurements were made over five consecutive days at multiple distances. Statistical and machine learning techniques, including Random Forest and XGBoost, were applied to model dose-rate attenuation by identifying the most influential predictive variables. Results: The thyroid fixation rate of 131I depends strongly on time after activity administration, the abdominal emission behavior compared with the thyroidal one.
