The aim of the study was to evaluate set up verification using portal imaging in patients with gastric cancer. Ninety four set up errors of patients treated in Radiotherapy Department of M.Sklodowska-Curie Memorial Cancer Center in Gliwice were analysed. The measurements of cranio - caudal (axis Y), latero - lateral (axis X) and anterior- posterior (axis Z) shifts on portal verifications images were performed. All measurements were divided into three groups according to the values of the shift (the first group include shifts below 5 mm, the second one 5-10 mm and the third one upper 10 mm). Results: The mean cranio - caudal shift was 5,8mm (SD±4,0), latero - lateral 2,6mm (SD±2,4), anterior – posterior 2,0mm (SD±2,6). The percentage of acceptable errors were the highest in Z axis (91%). Shifts upper 10 mm were observed in 15% in cranio - caudal axis, in 2% in anterior - posterior axis and only in 1% in latero - lateral axis. Conclusion: EPIDs is using for high accuracy of radiotherapy. Is easy and available method of reduce patient set up errors.
