Characteristics of tumor phyllodes were evaluated on the basis of literature data: population. (average age – circa 50y), microscopic (acc. WHO classification - benign, borderline, malignant), clinical (average size of breast tumor approx. 6cm, most common location - upper external quadrant, metastasis to axillary lymph nodes in <2% patients, distant metastases most frequently in malignant type - most often to lungs, liver, bones in <5-20% patients). 5-year disease free survival has been shown to be obtained in 78-88% patients, including in benign type - 90-96%, borderline - 69-93%, malignant 60-73%. Microscopic type of the neoplasm is commonly acclaimed to be independent prognostic factor.
