The authors of the paper conducted detailed literature review and analyzis of the own material of patients with primary invasive vaginal carcinoma, irradiated in last 45 years. Obtained data suggest the significant but not dramatic improvement of treatment outcomes, particulary in the last 20 years. Currently, 5 year overall survival rate in this group of patients exceeds 50%. The study of treatment failures revealed the loco-regional relapse as a dominant reason, occuring in over 75% of the uncured patients. Distant metastases were found in about 25% of unrecovered patients.
