General principles of treatment of superior vena cava syndrome among patients with lung cancer are presented in the paper. The indications for chemo- and radiotherapy as well as for merging of both these treatment methods are defined. Techniques of external beam radiotherapy, dose fractionation, total dose value and definition of irradiated volume are discussed and summarized.
