Based on the author’s 25-year experience in para-aortic lymphadenectomy by laparotomy and 12-year experience in the procedure performed by laparoscopy, two cases of surgical complications - injury of the inferior caval vein – are presented. Causes of the injury are discussed, along with the method of surgical management of the injured inferior caval vein.
