On the basis of the literature it has been revealed, that the primary cause of treatment failure in patients with phyllodes tumor (PT) is appearance of distant metastases predominantly in lungs, bone, brain and liver. In a small number of patients with such advanced neoplasm it is possible to obtain partial, but short term remission using multi-drug chemotherapy based on Doxorubicin. In case of local recurrences the recommended treatment is excision with tumorfree margins with conservation of the breast if anatomical conditions allows and with at least 1 cm free margin. In other patients the treatment of choice is a simple mastectomy of the breast.
