Abstract

Author(s): Janusz Bartnicki

The study herein presents the current stance adopted by German physicians as regards the laparoscopic periaortic lymphadenoctomy in case of endometrial cancer. In case of the and advancement stage of cancer it is recommended, if possible, to perform this stage of the surgery by means of laparoscopy. At the second stage, as there are not enough reliable findings concerning the survival of patients treated by means of laparoscopy as are also missing sufficient data concerning the prevalence of the recurrence of cancer, it is advised to conduct periaortic lymphadenoctomy by means of laparotomy. Laparoscopic periaortic lymphadenoctomy is performer in a small percentage of German hospitals but its popularity is growing. On the strength of 12-years’ experience of the author regarding the performance of laparoscopic periaortic lymphadenoctomy, I have presented self-developed practical recommendations with respect to this stage of the surgical treatment.
